Starting Games : Play with bots, this will help increase your knowledge and skills in the game and won't make other LoL players call you a total scrub.
Real Games - After you played a few games against bots and have got use to the items and familiarized yourself with the surroundings its time to play with other LoL players.
Few starting items in real games:
Philosopher's Stone (1115 g)
Meki Pendant (390 g) + Regrowth Pendant (475 g) + 250 g
Passive: Gain an additional 5 gold every 10 seconds.

The main thing you want to do is just stay in your lane play defensive and get a feel for the game. Ensure you help your team, but try to stay alive and don't feed like a total noob. Make sure you call out any hero missing in your lane.
